Sharik is a stray mongrel, starved, malnourished and on the verge of death when he finds himself rescued by the world famous rejuvenation therapist, Professor Philip Philipovich. Sharik comes to find that life is good as a gentle men’s dog, but the professor has other plans than a life of luxury for Sharik… Heart of a Dog was written by Mikhail Bulgakov in the wake of the Russian civil war. An allegorical and satirical tale about the dangers of social engineering. It was deemed too subversive for publication in Russia until 1987.

Shakespeare’s excellent study in ambition has never been more relevant than right now. This modern, site-specific adaptation drags the text into a political world not unlike our own, a world where women are finally permitted to ascend to the highest office. Performed in the round in Cardiff City Hall’s Council Chamber, with a mixed gender cast, this is an interpretation that interrogates our own political system and sheds new light on a text that has a timeless resonance. Join us, and watch at close quarters the rise and fall of Marcus Brutus; an honest woman, misled.

Soon after the death of a top government weapons expert, a mysterious tape is unearthed. Is it an exposé? A suicide note? A plea for help? 10 years after the invasion of Iraq, Act One presents an original devised piece exploring the human cost of secrecy and spin. From the fields of England to the streets of Baghdad, as an email sent by Dr David Kelly on the day of his death stated, there are “many dark actors playing games”.

A rock opera. Winner of 8 Tony awards including BEST NEW MUSICAL, Spring Awakening follows the lives of 11 children in 1890s Germany where sex is taboo. Wendla, the young and innocent protagonist meets the headstrong and handsome Melchior, whilst Moritz, the insecure, troubled student finds his life turned upside down. A thrilling contrast of strict 19th century life with a soaring rock score, Spring Awakening is an honest and contemporary look at the complex relationship between parents and their children.
